- You are eligible to apply to NTUT as an International Student, but you need to provide supported proof :

We need to verify that you do not currently hold nor have held household registration in Taiwan and that you have never stayed in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau or Mainland China for more than a total of 120 days.

(1)Overseas youth training courses organized by the Overseas Compatriot Affairs Council or technique training classes accredited by the Ministry of Education in Taiwan
(2)Overseas youth training courses organized by the Overseas Compatriot Affairs Council or technique training classes accredited by the Ministry of Education in Taiwan
(3)Exchange students in Taiwan, whose length of total exchange is less than 2 years
(4)An internship in Taiwan which has been approved by an authorized central government agency, of which the total length of stay is less than 2 years.
(5)Permanent residency in either Hong Kong or Macau (time spent in Hong Kong or Macau is not counted towards the 120 days)
- You are eligible to apply to NTUT as an International Student, but you need to provide supported proof :
- Within the six years before the semester starting date*, I have stayed in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao or Mainland China for more than a total of 120 days in one calendar year

5. I only hold the People's Republic of China passport
Unfortunately, you are not eligible to apply as an International Student as per the Nationality Act and the MOE Regulations Regarding International Students Undertaking Studies in Taiwan. You can only apply as a Mainland Chinese Student. Please consult the University Entrance Committee for Mainland Chinese Students.
6. I only have Hong Kong, Macau passport (or also hold a British National (Overseas) passport)
Unfortunately, you are not eligible to apply as an International Student as per the Nationality Act and the MOE Regulations Regarding International Students Undertaking Studies in Taiwan. You can only apply as an Overseas Chinese Student. Please consult the University Entrance Committee for Overseas Chinese Students.
7. I only have Taiwan nationality or household registration in Taiwan
Unfortunately, you are not eligible to apply as an International Student as per the Nationality Act and the MOE Regulations Regarding International Students Undertaking Studies in Taiwan. You can only apply as a Local Student or as an Overseas Chinese Student. If you have further inquiries, please consult University Entrance for Bachelors Degrees, University Entrance for Masters/Doctorate Degrees or the University Entrance Committee for Overseas Chinese Students.
Explanatory Notes:
* As defined by the Ministry of Education, the first semester starting date is August 1st and February 1st for the second semester
** The only exception to this rule applies to those who fulfill one of the following requirements in Taiwan and can provide documented proof :
- (1) Overseas youth training courses organized by the Overseas Compatriot Affairs Council or technique training classes accredited by the Ministry of Education in Taiwan
- (2) A Mandarin Chinese language center at a university/college in Taiwan of which foreign student recruitment is approved by the Ministry of Education, and to which the total length of stay is less than 2 years
- (3) Exchange students in Taiwan, whose length of total exchange is less than 2 years
- (4) An internship in Taiwan that has been approved by an authorized central government agency and is less than 2 years
*** The stay in Hong Kong/Macao will not be calculated for those who hold a permanent residence status in Hong Kong or Macao.
**** As defined by the University, the first semester classes start in September and second semester classes start in February.
The results of this qualification check is for reference only. The applicant's actual qualifications need to be confirmed in accordance with the Nationality Act of the Republic of China and MOE "Regulations regarding International student undertaking studies in Taiwan."
